Iberia has come up as an important investment destination for foreign investors, offering opportunities in various sectors, including traditional real estate, renewable energy, tourism, logistics, data centres, and agriculture. However, investing in Spain and Portugal requires a local partner to navigate the market effectively.

Iberia is an attractive destination for international business investment due to its stable macroeconomic outlook, economic competitiveness, skilled and technology savvy workforce, great quality of life, as well as its rise as a global tourism and education destination. These dynamics are associated with the attraction of foreign investors, which are coming more and more to invest in Spain and Portugal, looking for opportunities for long-term growth and diversification.

The recently created Iberian Property Awards, with such a high participation rate, are a recognition of the dynamics in the market. The initiative enjoyed high engagement levels, highlighting the importance of the event itself and emphasizing the awards' credibility and impact. In fact, the jury is formed by highly respected industry professionals and guided by a thorough and structured evaluation process. Winning is therefore a consequence of track record, expertise, approach, dedication, and results. Hopefully, these awards serve as a guiding and shining light on excellence in real estate investments.

The projects under evaluation were diverse and very compelling, a testament to the exceptional quality characterising the inaugural edition of the award. In the Spanish real estate market, Greystar sealed the Deal of the Year Spain with a strategic 2500-unit flexible living portfolio, showcasing market competence. In Portugal, Merlin Properties secured the Deal of the Year Portugal with Project Liberdade, in Lisbon, a project presented by C&W PT and JLL PT for their advisory role, underscoring the advisors’ dynamism. Aedas Homes triumphed in the Green Asset of the Year with Fioresta in Alicante, being recognised for an eco-conscious development. Lar España earned the Social Impact Initiative award for Kilómetros Solidarios in Alicante, blending sports and social impact. And last, but not least, Sonae Sierra won the Investor Reporting of the Year award, exemplifying excellence in comprehensive reporting, following GRI index guidelines.

Iberia is definitely a promising destination for real estate investments with great professionalism and numerous examples of best practices. As a consequence, the landscape is evolving towards sustainability, with ESG and green financing gaining prominence in the real estate industry. Essentially, adhering to ESG standards not only puts companies in a positive light with investors but also emphasises the increasing significance of sustainable practices in the real estate sector. When it comes to investing in Iberia, it's more than just capitalising on opportunities—it's about embracing a future where success is fueled by responsible and sustainable practices.
